Job Description
The role is to manage, coordinate and administer port call spend analysis between our Principals and ship agents, as well as to qualify port cost spend per influenceable and non-influenceable spend.
The Job Exists To
Lead and deliver cost saving strategies by analyzing port call spend to achieve cost reductions through discounts/rebates, as well as cost avoidance via change of process and/or supplier, thereby reducing the Total Cost of Ownership of our customers and resulting in additional income for the Company.
Maintain all records and keep relevant database of cost savings/benchmark up-to-date.
Act as a customer-facing and subject matter expert for cost and savings reporting; prepare presentations in PowerPoint and participate in meetings as assigned.
Key Areas Of Responsibilities
Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of port tariff structure and cost calculation, and apply the same to investigate/identify additional and/or new discounts, rebates, and potential savings across global ports.
Source and analyze global port spend drivers across various vessel categories, primarily tankers, gas carriers and bulk carriers. Understand difference in cost per vessel category.
Source and analyze vendors for commercial and husbandry services including but not limited to towage, pilotage, launch, transportation, hotels, etc.
Derive cost benchmarks based on the port spend, and commercial and husbandry services.
Establish new structure of DA Services and Spend categories to allocate spend and cost savings accurately, resulting in proper bifurcation of Spend and Sub Spend categories.
Lead various customer-driven port cost saving projects.
Prepare and maintain database detailing port spend, and commercial and husbandry services filtered to the level of terminal, and berth, further categorising to Influenceable and Non-Influenceable spend.
Prepare and present data analysis and presentations in MS Excel and PowerPoint with clear visibility and bifurcation of the required port spend, and commercial and husbandry costs.
Internally communicate updates and ensure operations are properly recording the necessary data (data quality KPI).
On demand, assist the Supply Chain function in delivery reports and presentations.
Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications and Other Requirements:
5-6 years in shipping agency operations
Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain / Maritime.
Reporting & data analytics tools.
Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
Ability to multi-task.
Excellent communication & presentation skills.
Versatile in visualizing data using MS Excel and PowerPoint
