Concrete Design Engineer Full Time

1. Role Objective:

To assist in preparing the designs and engineering drawings of jobs by incorporating the contract specifications, client requirements and government regulations without compromising the constructability of these designs.
To coordinate with Sr. Concrete Designer to ensure the use of creative solutions in the design of jobs that reduce manpower requirements, cost and time.

2. Detailed Roles & Responsibilities:

STRATEGIC

Considers creative solutions to job requirements that would reduce manpower requirements, cost and time.
Assists Sr. Concrete Designer in considering creative solutions to job requirements that would distinguish Amana from other competitors.
Considers the advances construction technologies in coordination with the Sr. Concrete Designer.

OPERATIONAL:

Performs structural design and analysis for Design/ Build contracts, coordinates the activities of the consultant, client and Amana in order to develop the compliant design as per the client requirements in coordination with the Draughtsman for drawing preparations and cooperates with the consultant to obtain the approval of the authorities.
Coordinates with Sr. Concrete Designer to interface with clients, consultants and authorities to ensure the quick approval of drawings compliant with the job requirements and contract.
Assists in checking and approving the compatibility of the Architectural, Civil, MEP and Steel cladding drawings and designs (both in-house and third party) in coordination with the relevant parties.
Ensures the timely delivery of updated “Issued for Construction” drawings after the approval of Sr. Concrete Designer and as defined by the drawings log set by Engineering Manager.
Reviews the steel design / drawings received from steel manufacturing company in co-ordination with Sr. Steel Designer in order to develop the concrete design and cover the interface areas properly.
Assists in reviewing any design/drawings proposed by subcontractors.
Keeps a backup of all the design calculations on the Company’s server.
Follows-up the preparation of drawing submittal log in line with the overall project schedule in coordination with the Planning function and Sr. Concrete Designer.
Coordinates with Project Manager to provide as Built Drawings for jobs on a timely basis and as per the requirements of the Construction department.
Performs site visits as needed to compare designs with actual site practices as well as to improve knowledge of practical building practices as requested by Engineering Manager.
Assists Cost Control function as needed in variation orders and reports the same to Sr. Concrete Designer.
Assists in providing references to a library of standard constructible details of least cost implications.
Assists the Sr. Concrete Designer in the completion of the Engineering section Structural Works of the End of Job Report.
Supports Tendering department by providing technical design and advice to minimize the cost to help securing projects.

Educational Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering -Structural.
Preferable Revit Certification from Autodesk.

Experience:

Minimum of 6 years in Structural Design, Familiarity with Pre-cast and Steel Design

Technical Skills:

Knowledge of Structural software such as REVIT, STAAD Pro., PROKON, ETABS, SAP, SAFE, Concise beam, design (G+4) Concrete Building, Precast, computer skills and communications skills in English language (read, write and speak)
