Franklin Templeton Asia Pacific Alternatives (FTAPA) is looking for an experienced and a highly motivated Associate to join a rapidly growing private equity group in Hong Kong or Dubai. The Associate will support senior investment team in each stage of investment from origination, screening, due diligence, deal structuring, investment committee approvals, documentation, portfolio monitoring, and portfolio exits. This role will be primarily responsible for research and modeling in support of new investments and the monitoring of existing investments. The role is also a key contributor to portfolio reporting and developing presentations.
What are the ongoing responsibilities of this position?
Conduct fundamental industry and sub-sector research
Produce thorough analysis of target portfolio company
Develop detailed, dynamic financial models / scenario analysis to highlight relevant metrics to be used in the investment decision making process
Prepare investment memos and presentations in support of new investments
Actively monitor existing portfolio of investments
Develop analysis on exit scenarios
What qualifications, skills and experience would help someone to be successful?
Bachelors degree. Relevant post graduate degree is preferred
3-5 years of experience working in a private equity firm, a private credit firm, an investment bank, corporate finance, or other M&A related discipline conducing financial analysis and modeling
Expert level experience building and analyzing financial models, including structured credit and mezzanine debt models
Strong fundamental research, quantitative, and financial analysis skills including fluency in analyzing financial statements
Experience independently developing valuation models, including DCFs
Ability to identify trends and extract themes from data and present them in professional compelling presentation formats (verbal and written)
Strong interpersonal skills / team player with the desire and ability to function effectively in a start-up environment
Strong communication and writing skills in English
Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and PowerPoint
