The Role: Associate Director, Oil Markets, Midstream & Downstream (OMD) Consulting
The Location: Dubai, United Arab Emirates
The Team: this position is in the fast-growing Middle East and Indian Subcontinent (MDEI) consulting team of the Oil Markets, Midstream & Downstream (OMD) in S&P Global Commodities Insights division.
We advise clients on crude oil, refined product, storage, retail markets and custom scenarios in the MDEI region and support our clients understanding of the increasing interdependence between crude markets, refining, petrochemical, energy transition (including biofuels) & mobility.
We are proud to have developed many pivotal market strategies for several National Oil Companies (NOCs), Independents and key stakeholders in the region and acted as commercial advisors in several recent large capital formation deals in the region.
Our clients range from leading NOCs, Governments, Lenders, Investment companies, and their associated industry bodies. We will continue leveraging our extensive regional experience, capabilities, and synergies with other S&P Global teams to deliver an aggressive growth plan in the next three years.
We are recruiting an experienced professional with strong energy transition & biofuels background in the OMD segment. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a diverse, dynamic and fast-growing team of consultants with wide-ranging backgrounds in energy and the hydrocarbon value chain. The varied and changing nature of our projects leads to the development of a diverse set of skills and exposure to different industries and clients, including senior industry leaders and policy makers.
Responsibilities
Lead the regional consulting teams development of energy transition & biofuels business within our client base including a go to market strategy & plan
The role will focus on helping our clients within the OMD segment to develop and implement programs to decarbonise and successfully navigate energy transition
Effectively manage entire consulting projects or significant workstreams within medium size projects.
Manage project resources and progress against the project plan to ensure on-time delivery of a quality set of products
For large projects, participate actively in the execution of the scope and delivery, leading segment regulatory assessment, demand, supply and price forecasts
Apply energy industry knowledge to a variety of market designs and situations as required by client needs
Build consensus across groups with competing priorities within the project team
Efficiently review analysis and modelling efforts done by other Team or project team members and provide feedback for improvement
Participate in client or industry events and share key takeaways that impact the consulting teams work and priorities
Lead client meetings and presentation of a projects reports
Develop the teams business in the region by actively reaching out to potential clients, preparing pitch decks and leading Business Development meetings
Support positioning S&P Global and our team as the go-to consultancy for energy transition and key transactional projects in the region
What Were Looking For
8-15 years of experience in the oil, refining & energy industry within operational, consulting, technology or engineering companies related to the segment
The candidate should be able to demonstrate expertise in the segment, having a high-quality professional network in the region will be a significant plus
Proven client facing, analytical and quantitative skills are required
Once priorities are agreed upon, the ability to work with autonomy with minimal direction is required
Significant experience within the segment relating to energy transition, biofuels and sustainability is a must have
Minimum qualifications are Bachelors degree in chemical, mechanical or industry related engineering
Candidates with a masters degree in one of the above-listed disciplines are highly preferred
Strong written and oral presentation skills in English (Arabic is a plus).
Must have an analytical frame of mind and be prepared to use data to back up opinions
Some travel is required on average around 20% of the time (but could occasionally be more)
Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment, influencing stakeholders, providing ideas and open feedback
